Thread Milling Process

The threading operation includes positioning, helical interpolation, and finishing. The cutter enters along the helical path to form a precise internal or external thread. Stable feed and speed parameters ensure excellent thread accuracy and surface finish.

  1. Start Position: Align the tool center with thread position.
  2. Helical Entry: Begin circular interpolation at the starting point.
  3. Thread Milling: Perform spiral cutting to desired depth.
  4. Exit and Finish: Retract along the helical path for a clean thread exit.

Cutting Depth & Step

For thread diameters from 1–20 mm:
Axial depth (Ap): up to 1.5D
Radial step (Ae): typically 0.05D–0.1D
