CCMT060202 AP25N
High-Speed Finishing | TiCN Cermet Grade | Mirror Finish Specialist
Material & Geometry Analysis
AP25N Grade (TiCN Cermet): This is a Titanium Carbonitride-based cermet designed specifically for Steel finishing. AP25N features exceptional resistance to oxidation and plastic deformation. Because it has a low chemical affinity for steel, it virtually eliminates Built-Up Edge (BUE), allowing for incredible surface gloss and dimensional stability over long production runs.
Positive 80° Rhombic Geometry: The CCMT design is a positive rake insert, which reduces cutting forces and heat generation. This makes it ideal for boring bars and slender workpieces where vibration control is essential. The 0.2mm radius is perfect for fine finishing and intricate profiles.
Model & Dimensional Comparison
| Unit System | Model Designation | I.C. (Inscribed Circle) | Thickness | Radius (RE) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metric | CCMT060202 | 6.35 mm | 2.38 mm | 0.20 mm |
| Imperial | CCMT21.50.5 | 0.250" (1/4") | 0.0937" (3/32") | 0.0079" |
Recommended Cutting Parameters
*AP25N performs best in dry machining or with minimal lubrication for high-gloss results. Use higher speeds to prevent chipping.
| Workpiece Material | Speed (Vc) | Feed (fn) | Depth (Ap) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon Steel (S45C) | 180 - 350 m/min | 0.03 - 0.12 mm/r | 0.1 - 1.0 mm |
| Alloy Steel (SCM440) | 150 - 300 m/min | 0.03 - 0.10 mm/r | 0.1 - 0.8 mm |
Compatible Tool Holders
Works with standard SCLCR/L external tools and boring bars:
Shop SCLCR ToolingSelection Tip: AP25N vs VP15TF
AP25N (Cermet): Choose for Continuous Finishing. It provides a better surface finish and higher speed capability in steel than carbide.
VP15TF (PVD Carbide): Switch to VP15TF for Interrupted Cuts or Stainless Steel. Cermet is brittle and may chip in heavy interruptions where carbide survives.

Technical FAQ & Buying Guide
Absolutely. Our CNC carbide inserts (including CNMG, WNMG, DNMG, and APMT series) are manufactured strictly adhering to international ISO/ANSI specifications. A CNMG 120408 from OYYU BEYOND will flawlessly fit any standard turning tool holder or indexable tool from major global brands like Sandvik Coromant, Kennametal, Iscar, Walter, or SECO, providing a highly cost-effective premium alternative without sacrificing tolerance or tool life.
We offer optimized CVD and PVD multi-layer coatings for different ISO material groups:
- For Carbon/Alloy Steel (ISO P): Choose our thick multi-layer CVD coated grades (e.g., Al2O3 + TiN). They provide exceptional crater wear resistance and thermal barriers during high-speed dry or wet roughing.
- For Stainless Steel (ISO M): Choose our nano-structured PVD coated grades with sharp, positive chipbreakers (like -TM or -MA). This combination prevents work hardening and effectively controls sticky chips.
The optimal cutting parameters vary depending on the workpiece hardness and operation type:
- For General Steel Turnings: Recommended cutting speed ($V_c$) ranges from 150 to 280 m/min, with a feed rate ($f$) of 0.15 to 0.45 mm/rev.
- For Stainless Steel Finishing: Recommended cutting speed ($V_c$) is 120 to 200 m/min, with a feed rate ($f$) of 0.10 to 0.25 mm/rev.Always adjust parameters based on early wear patterns: increase $V_c$ if built-up edge occurs, or reduce $V_c$ if severe flank wear is observed.
