DCMT070204-MV NX2525
High-Gloss Cermet | MV Versatile Chipbreaker | Steel Finishing Master
Superior Surface Finish via Cermet Technology
NX2525 Cermet Grade: The NX2525 is a Titanium Carbonitride (TiCN) based Cermet. Unlike standard tungsten carbide, Cermet has a very low affinity for ferrous metals. This means even at high cutting temperatures, the steel won't "stick" to the insert. The result is a mirror-like surface finish and incredible dimensional consistency over long production runs.
MV Chipbreaker (Medium-Finishing): The MV (Medium-V) geometry is designed for stability. While finishing chipbreakers can often be fragile, the MV profile provides excellent chip evacuation across a wider range of depths ($Ap$) and feed rates. It is the perfect "set-and-forget" geometry for automated CNC turning.
0.4mm Radius (The Industry Standard): The "04" (1/64") nose radius is the ideal balance for finishing. It provides enough strength to resist micro-chipping while remaining sharp enough to reduce cutting forces and prevent vibration on smaller CNC lathes.
Metric vs. Imperial Comparison
| System | Model Designation | I.C. (Inscribed Circle) | Thickness | Radius (RE) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metric | DCMT070204-MV | 6.35 mm | 2.38 mm | 0.40 mm |
| Imperial | DCMT21.51-MV | 1/4" | 3/32" | 0.0157" (1/64") |
Recommended Cutting Parameters
*Cermet performs best at higher surface speeds. Avoid low RPM to prevent edge chipping.
| Workpiece Material | Speed (Vc) | Feed (fn) | Depth (Ap) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mild Steel (1018/1045) | 180 - 400 m/min | 0.08 - 0.20 mm/r | 0.20 - 1.50 mm |
| Alloy Steel (4140/SCM) | 150 - 320 m/min | 0.06 - 0.18 mm/r | 0.20 - 1.20 mm |
Compatible Tool Holders
Maximum finishing stability with 07-series SDJCR/L or SDUCR/L holders:

NX2525 (Cermet): Your first choice for "Dry Finishing." It handles high heat better than carbide and produces a much glossier finish on steels.
VP15TF (PVD Carbide): Switch to VP15TF if you are machining Stainless Steel (304/316) or if your cut is interrupted. Cermet is optimized for continuous cuts in carbon/alloy steel.

Technical FAQ & Buying Guide
Absolutely. Our CNC carbide inserts (including CNMG, WNMG, DNMG, and APMT series) are manufactured strictly adhering to international ISO/ANSI specifications. A CNMG 120408 from OYYU BEYOND will flawlessly fit any standard turning tool holder or indexable tool from major global brands like Sandvik Coromant, Kennametal, Iscar, Walter, or SECO, providing a highly cost-effective premium alternative without sacrificing tolerance or tool life.
We offer optimized CVD and PVD multi-layer coatings for different ISO material groups:
- For Carbon/Alloy Steel (ISO P): Choose our thick multi-layer CVD coated grades (e.g., Al2O3 + TiN). They provide exceptional crater wear resistance and thermal barriers during high-speed dry or wet roughing.
- For Stainless Steel (ISO M): Choose our nano-structured PVD coated grades with sharp, positive chipbreakers (like -TM or -MA). This combination prevents work hardening and effectively controls sticky chips.
The optimal cutting parameters vary depending on the workpiece hardness and operation type:
- For General Steel Turnings: Recommended cutting speed ($V_c$) ranges from 150 to 280 m/min, with a feed rate ($f$) of 0.15 to 0.45 mm/rev.
- For Stainless Steel Finishing: Recommended cutting speed ($V_c$) is 120 to 200 m/min, with a feed rate ($f$) of 0.10 to 0.25 mm/rev.Always adjust parameters based on early wear patterns: increase $V_c$ if built-up edge occurs, or reduce $V_c$ if severe flank wear is observed.
