Selecting the right 2mm insert for your material:
The Stainless Expert. PVD coating is thinner and sharper than CVD. Use this for 300-series stainless, titanium, and any gummy material where precision and surface finish are priority.
The Steel Expert. CVD coatings are thicker and better for high-speed parting of dry or lubricated Carbon Steels. Avoid using these on stainless, as the material will "weld" to the edge.
Pro Advice: When parting off 316 stainless with the SP200, use high-pressure coolant directed exactly at the cutting edge. This flushes the gummy chips and significantly increases the life of your PC9030 insert.
