Unstable Conditions. If your workpiece is overhanging or you're dealing with raw forging surfaces, the extra 1mm of width in the SP400 provides a massive increase in tool life and prevents the insert from "snapping" under sudden load spikes.
Production Speed. NC3020 is your go-to for high-speed continuous work. If you find the edge is chipping due to interrupted cuts, consider moving to NC3120 for slightly more toughness at the expense of top speed.
Pro Advice: Because the SP400 is a wider insert, it generates more heat. Ensure your coolant pressure is adequate to reach the tip, especially when the depth of cut exceeds 20mm.
