Machinist Tip: Why choose SP400 PC5300?
Understanding the Korloy PVD Grade difference:
Safety and Versatility. If you switch between steel and stainless steel frequently, or if your machine has vibration, PC5300 is the most "forgiving" grade. It prevents sudden breakage better than any other grade.
Stainless Focus. Choose PC9030 only if you are processing 100% stainless steel in stable conditions. It is slightly sharper but more brittle than PC5300.
Pro Advice: For 4mm wide parting, rigidity is paramount. Use the shortest possible blade overhang. If you encounter vibration (chatter), PC5300’s shock-resistant substrate will often be the key to finishing the job without destroying the tool.
