Optimizing heavy-duty stainless parting:
Anti-Built-Up Edge. PVD coating is essential for 4mm wide stainless parting. It prevents the gummy material from "welding" to the insert, which is the leading cause of edge breakage in large shafts.
The Steel Powerhouses. Thicker CVD coatings are better for high-speed Carbon Steel but can be too blunt for gummy stainless, causing heat build-up and tool deflection.
