UC5115 Grade (CVD Coating Technology): UC5115 is Mitsubishi’s premier grade for K-Class (Cast Iron) turning. It utilizes a thick, highly-oriented Alumina (Al2O3) coating that serves as a superior thermal barrier. This prevents the heat generated by abrasive graphite particles from reaching the carbide substrate, dramatically increasing tool life in both Gray Iron (FC) and Ductile Iron (FCD).
CNMG Geometry & Chipbreaker: The CNMG geometry is a double-sided, 80-degree diamond shape that offers four cutting edges. The integrated chipbreaker is designed for General Purpose machining, ensuring stable chip evacuation even in ductile iron where chips tend to be slightly stringier compared to the crumbly chips of gray iron.
0.8mm (1/32") Balanced Radius: The 08 radius is the global industry standard. It is strong enough to resist chipping during light interrupted cuts while providing a high-quality surface finish (Ra) that often eliminates the need for a secondary finishing operation.
