About ZCC·CT Threading Inserts
ZCC·CT (ZCC Cutting Tools) threading inserts are precision ground carbide tools for external and internal thread turning on CNC lathes. The line uses a streamlined 4-grade PVD-coated family — YBG201 / YBG202 / YBG203 / YBG205 — focused on universal PVD performance for steel, stainless, and high-temperature alloys. The dominant insert geometry is the RT16.01N family (16 mm IC, right-hand, type 01N profile) — the global industry-standard threading geometry shared across Mitsubishi, Sandvik, Kennametal, Iscar, Tungaloy, and Walter. CNCHome-Beyond is an authorized ZCC·CT distributor; orders placed before 3 PM China time ship same-day from our Hangzhou warehouse with DHL/UPS/FedEx express delivery in 3-7 business days.
ZCC·CT Threading Grade Family (4 PVD Universal)
| Grade | Coating / Material | Workpiece | Recommended Speed | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| YBG201 | PVD (TiAlN) | Universal (P10-P30, M10-M25) | 100-200 m/min | Steel + stainless threading finishing (workhorse — 47 SKUs, 47% of catalog) |
| YBG202 | PVD (TiAlN, tougher) | Universal (P15-P35, M15-M30) | 100-180 m/min | Universal threading semi-finishing, balanced (22 SKUs) |
| YBG205 | PVD (Al-rich TiAlN) | Universal (P20-P40) | 80-160 m/min | Universal threading roughing, high-temp alloys (Inconel, titanium) — 27 SKUs |
| YBG203 | PVD (TiAlN variant) | Universal (P15-P35) | 100-180 m/min | Specialty universal — 4 SKUs, specific applications |
About ZCC·CT threading grade strategy: Unlike Kyocera (single PR1115 grade for all threading) or Mitsubishi (multi-grade CV/PV/MP series), ZCC·CT uses a streamlined 4-grade PVD family covering all threading applications from steel finishing to high-temp roughing. YBG201 is the universal workhorse for 80% of steel + stainless threading. YBG205 is the high-temp specialist for Inconel, titanium, Waspaloy. YBG202 is the tougher alternative to YBG201 for heavier loads. YBG203 is a small-batch specialty grade. All 4 grades are PVD (TiAlN) — no CVD options — because threading requires a sharp cutting edge, not a thick wear-resistant coating. Use YBG201 for general steel/stainless; YBG205 for high-temp alloys; YBG202 for heavy interrupted cuts.
ZCC·CT Threading Geometry at a Glance
| Series | IC Size | Type | Operation | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RT16.01N | 16 mm | Right-hand threading, 16 mm IC, type 01N profile | External right-hand threads on most lathes | Mainstream threading — 59 SKUs in this catalog |
| RT11.01N | 11 mm | Right-hand threading, 11 mm IC, type 01N profile | External threads on small lathes, internal boring bars | Small lathe / boring bar threading |
| LT16 | 16 mm | Left-hand threading, 16 mm IC | External left-hand threads | Left-hand threading — 3 SKUs (L series) |
ZCC·CT's threading line uses a single profile type (01N) which is the industry-standard threading geometry compatible with every major threading holder on the market. The "01" prefix indicates the cross-section profile (full V-shape), and the "N" suffix indicates the standard sharp cutting edge (not honed for tough materials). Both RT (right-hand) and LT (left-hand) versions use the same profile and 16mm IC — only the cutting direction differs.

How to Choose a ZCC·CT Threading Insert
Step 1: Identify the thread standard. ISO metric (M) for European/Asian metric fasteners. UN/UNF for North American inch fasteners. Whitworth (W/BSW) for UK legacy or vintage machinery. NPT for tapered pipe threads (60° North American standard). Partial profile (60° or 55°) for unknown or multi-pitch flexibility.
Step 2: Look up the pitch or TPI. ISO metric pitch is in mm (e.g. M10×1.5 = 1.5 mm pitch). UN TPI is threads per inch (e.g. 1/2"-20 UNF = 20 TPI). Whitworth and NPT are TPI as well. ZCC·CT's RT16 covers most common ISO pitches 1.0-3.0 mm.
Step 3: Choose the hand. RT = Right-hand thread (most common, 80% of applications). LT = Left-hand thread (rare, special applications). ZCC·CT stocks 3 LT16 SKUs (left-hand) vs 59 RT16 SKUs (right-hand).
Step 4: Choose IC size. Use 16mm IC (RT16) for OD > 25 mm or bore > 20 mm. Use 11mm IC (RT11) for bore 13-20 mm only.
Step 5: For unknown pitch, use partial profile. A 60° partial profile insert (GMPB or A60) covers any pitch from 0.5-3.0 mm. A 55° partial profile insert covers Whitworth/BSP pitch 0.5-3.0 mm. Trade-off: full profile is more accurate (matches standard exactly); partial profile is more flexible (one insert for many pitches).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between YBG201 and YBG205 grades in ZCC·CT threading?
YBG201 is the workhorse PVD grade for universal threading (47 SKUs, 47% of catalog). Optimized for steel + stainless finishing and semi-finishing at 100-200 m/min. YBG205 is the high-temperature specialist (27 SKUs). The "Al-rich" TiAlN coating resists the heat of high-temp alloys like Inconel, titanium, and Waspaloy. Use YBG201 for steel and stainless; use YBG205 for Inconel, titanium, and aerospace alloys.
What is the equivalent of ZCC·CT RT16.01N-1.50GM YBG201 in other brands?
ZCC·CT RT16.01N-1.50GM YBG201 is the industry-standard external right-hand threading insert (16mm IC, 1.5mm pitch for M10, GM general medium chip-breaker, YBG201 PVD universal grade). Direct equivalents: Sandvik R166.0G-16MM01-150, Kennametal KE16-150R, Iscar 16ER1.50ISO, Walter LT16-1.50ISO, Kyocera 16ER1.5ISO PR1115, Mitsubishi 16ER150BG US7020. All are dimensionally interchangeable on the same external threading holder. For grade cross-reference, see our Insert Grade Cross-Reference Tool.
What is the difference between RT (right-hand) and LT (left-hand) threading inserts?
RT (Right-hand Threading) inserts are ground to cut right-hand threads — the most common thread direction (tighten clockwise). LT (Left-hand Threading) inserts are mirrored to cut left-hand threads (tighten counter-clockwise). LT inserts are used in special applications like lead screws on CNC lathes, left-hand threaded shafts, and reverse-direction feeds. ZCC·CT stocks 59 RT16 SKUs vs only 3 LT16 SKUs — left-hand threading is rare. Important: RT inserts cannot be used for left-hand threads (and vice versa) because the insert profile is asymmetrical.
What is the difference between ISO Metric and UN Unified threading inserts?
Both have a 60° thread angle, but differ in: (1) Root shape: ISO has a sharp V root, UN has a flat root (truncated V). (2) Pitch specification: ISO uses pitch in mm (e.g. M10×1.5 = 1.5 mm); UN uses TPI (threads per inch, e.g. 1/2"-20 UNF = 20 TPI). (3) Compatibility: ISO and UN are NOT interchangeable — an ISO thread cut on a UN-spec part will leak pressure. ZCC·CT's RT16 family uses different part numbers for ISO (e.g. RT16.01N-1.50GM) vs UN (e.g. RT16.01N-12UN). The same insert body works for both, but the cutting edge profile differs.
What is the difference between NPT and BSPT threading?
Both are tapered pipe threads (3/4" taper per foot = 1:16), but differ in angle: NPT uses 60° (North American standard), BSPT uses 55° (British Standard Pipe Taper, used in UK, Europe, Asia, most non-North-American countries). The two are NOT interchangeable — an NPT male fitting will not seal in a BSPT female port (and vice versa). ZCC·CT stocks NPT (RT16.01N-11.5NPT, 60° taper) on this page; for BSPT (55° taper) you need a 55° partial profile insert. Contact us for BSPT availability and lead time.
What is the minimum order quantity for ZCC·CT threading inserts?
Sample orders start at 1 piece for grade validation. Standard production orders are 10-50 pieces per item. Bulk pricing tiers: 2-9 pieces 6% off, 10+ pieces 12% off (auto-applied at checkout). For custom pitches or thread standards not in our standard catalog, MOQ is 200 pieces with 6-8 week lead time from ZCC·CT Zhuzhou. See our warranty and return policy for details on grade validation samples.
