CCMT09T304 NX2525
High-Speed Steel Finishing | TiCN Cermet Grade | 0.4mm Radius
Material Science & Geometry
NX2525 Grade (TiCN Cermet): NX2525 is an uncoated Cermet (Ceramic-Metallic) grade. Unlike tungsten carbide, cermet has a very low chemical affinity for steel. This prevents Built-Up Edge (BUE) and smearing, allowing you to achieve a mirror-polished surface finish directly from the machine. It is designed for high surface speeds where traditional carbide would suffer from plastic deformation.
CCMT Geometry (80° Positive): The CCMT shape features a 7° positive relief angle. This reduces cutting resistance, making it the ideal choice for boring bars and slender workpieces. The 0.4mm (1/64") radius provides excellent edge security, allowing for consistent performance in both finishing and light semi-finishing.
Metric vs. Imperial Comparison
| System | Model Designation | I.C. (Inscribed Circle) | Thickness | Radius (RE) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metric | CCMT09T304 | 9.525 mm | 3.97 mm | 0.40 mm |
| Imperial | CCMT32.51 | 0.375" (3/8") | 0.156" (5/32") | 0.0157" |
Recommended Cutting Parameters
*The 0.4mm radius allows for higher feed rates than the 0.2mm version. Best results are achieved in dry finishing or with high-pressure oil mist.
| Workpiece Material | Speed (Vc) | Feed (fn) | Depth (Ap) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon & Alloy Steel | 150 - 350 m/min | 0.05 - 0.20 mm/r | 0.15 - 1.20 mm |
| Structural / Mild Steel | 180 - 400 m/min | 0.05 - 0.25 mm/r | 0.10 - 1.50 mm |

NX2525 (Cermet): Use for Continuous Finishing only. It is the king of surface finish. If you need a "jewelry" look on steel, this is the grade.
VP15TF / MP6015 (Carbide): Switch to these grades if you encounter Interrupted Cuts (hex bars, keyways) or if you are machining Stainless Steel. Cermet is more brittle; carbide is needed to handle impact.

Technical FAQ & Buying Guide
Absolutely. Our CNC carbide inserts (including CNMG, WNMG, DNMG, and APMT series) are manufactured strictly adhering to international ISO/ANSI specifications. A CNMG 120408 from OYYU BEYOND will flawlessly fit any standard turning tool holder or indexable tool from major global brands like Sandvik Coromant, Kennametal, Iscar, Walter, or SECO, providing a highly cost-effective premium alternative without sacrificing tolerance or tool life.
We offer optimized CVD and PVD multi-layer coatings for different ISO material groups:
- For Carbon/Alloy Steel (ISO P): Choose our thick multi-layer CVD coated grades (e.g., Al2O3 + TiN). They provide exceptional crater wear resistance and thermal barriers during high-speed dry or wet roughing.
- For Stainless Steel (ISO M): Choose our nano-structured PVD coated grades with sharp, positive chipbreakers (like -TM or -MA). This combination prevents work hardening and effectively controls sticky chips.
The optimal cutting parameters vary depending on the workpiece hardness and operation type:
- For General Steel Turnings: Recommended cutting speed ($V_c$) ranges from 150 to 280 m/min, with a feed rate ($f$) of 0.15 to 0.45 mm/rev.
- For Stainless Steel Finishing: Recommended cutting speed ($V_c$) is 120 to 200 m/min, with a feed rate ($f$) of 0.10 to 0.25 mm/rev.Always adjust parameters based on early wear patterns: increase $V_c$ if built-up edge occurs, or reduce $V_c$ if severe flank wear is observed.
