CCMT120404 NX2525
Industrial Steel Finishing | TiCN Cermet Grade | 0.4mm Radius
Material Science & Geometry
NX2525 Grade (TiCN Cermet): NX2525 is a premium Titanium Carbonitride (TiCN) based cermet. Unlike standard tungsten carbide, cermets have a low chemical affinity for steel, which prevents the workpiece material from "welding" to the insert edge. This effectively eliminates Built-Up Edge (BUE), allowing for significantly higher cutting speeds and a brilliant, mirror-like surface finish.
CCMT Geometry (80° Positive): The 12mm class CCMT insert provides massive stability for large diameter Internal Boring and external turning. The 7° positive relief angle reduces cutting forces and heat transfer to the workpiece, ensuring dimensional accuracy even on long production runs.
Metric vs. Imperial Specifications
| Unit System | Model Designation | I.C. (Inscribed Circle) | Thickness | Radius (RE) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metric | CCMT120404 | 12.70 mm | 4.76 mm | 0.40 mm |
| Imperial | CCMT431 | 0.500" (1/2") | 0.187" (3/16") | 0.0157" (1/64") |
Recommended Cutting Parameters
*The 12mm insert size allows for deeper cuts (Ap) than smaller series. Best results are achieved in continuous finishing passes.
| Workpiece Material | Speed (Vc) | Feed (fn) | Depth (Ap) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon & Alloy Steel | 150 - 350 m/min | 0.05 - 0.25 mm/r | 0.20 - 1.50 mm |
| Structural / Mild Steel | 180 - 450 m/min | 0.05 - 0.30 mm/r | 0.20 - 2.00 mm |

Shop SCLCR 12 HoldersPro-Tip: NX2525 vs AP25N
NX2525 (Cermet): This is your Mirror Finish specialist. It is harder and offers higher wear resistance. Best for stable, continuous finishing in CNC lathes.
AP25N (Cermet): The Versatility grade. If you have light interrupted cuts or slightly unstable clamping, AP25N is tougher and more resistant to edge chipping than NX2525.

Technical FAQ & Buying Guide
Absolutely. Our CNC carbide inserts (including CNMG, WNMG, DNMG, and APMT series) are manufactured strictly adhering to international ISO/ANSI specifications. A CNMG 120408 from OYYU BEYOND will flawlessly fit any standard turning tool holder or indexable tool from major global brands like Sandvik Coromant, Kennametal, Iscar, Walter, or SECO, providing a highly cost-effective premium alternative without sacrificing tolerance or tool life.
We offer optimized CVD and PVD multi-layer coatings for different ISO material groups:
- For Carbon/Alloy Steel (ISO P): Choose our thick multi-layer CVD coated grades (e.g., Al2O3 + TiN). They provide exceptional crater wear resistance and thermal barriers during high-speed dry or wet roughing.
- For Stainless Steel (ISO M): Choose our nano-structured PVD coated grades with sharp, positive chipbreakers (like -TM or -MA). This combination prevents work hardening and effectively controls sticky chips.
The optimal cutting parameters vary depending on the workpiece hardness and operation type:
- For General Steel Turnings: Recommended cutting speed ($V_c$) ranges from 150 to 280 m/min, with a feed rate ($f$) of 0.15 to 0.45 mm/rev.
- For Stainless Steel Finishing: Recommended cutting speed ($V_c$) is 120 to 200 m/min, with a feed rate ($f$) of 0.10 to 0.25 mm/rev.Always adjust parameters based on early wear patterns: increase $V_c$ if built-up edge occurs, or reduce $V_c$ if severe flank wear is observed.
