The Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3) layer acts as a superior thermal barrier, preventing heat from penetrating the carbide substrate, which drastically reduces crater wear during high-speed continuous turning.
0.8mm Radius (The Productivity Advantage): The large corner radius provides a more robust cutting edge, allowing for significantly higher feed rates (mm/rev). It also creates a stronger "wiping" effect, improving surface finish at higher feeds compared to smaller radii inserts.
