Description

CNMG120404-GK MC5015

Cast Iron Specialist | MC5015 Abrasive Resistance | GK Robust Geometry

Optimized for Abrasive Cast Iron Environments

MC5015 Grade (The Wear Barrier): The MC5015 is Mitsubishi's premium CVD grade for K-Class (Cast Iron). Cast iron is notoriously abrasive; this grade combats that with a specialized thick alumina ($Al_2O_3$) coating that provides industry-leading flank wear resistance. This allows for significantly higher cutting speeds and longer tool life when machining Gray and Ductile iron components.

GK Chipbreaker (Stability Finishing): The GK geometry is a "Stable Cutting" breaker. Unlike finishing breakers for steel, the GK features a reinforced cutting edge land. This is crucial for cast iron, as it prevents the edge from chipping when it hits small pores or sand inclusions common in castings.

0.4mm (1/64") Precision Radius: The small 04 radius is designed to reduce tool pressure. This is particularly effective for finishing passes on thin-walled cast iron parts where vibration and "break-out" at the end of the cut must be minimized.

Metric vs. Imperial Comparison

System Model Designation I.C. (Inscribed Circle) Thickness Radius (RE)
Metric CNMG120404-GK 12.7 mm 4.76 mm 0.40 mm
Imperial CNMG431-GK 1/2" 3/16" 0.0157" (1/64")

Cast Iron Cutting Parameters

*MC5015 can be run dry in most cast iron applications. For Ductile iron, coolant can help control heat.

Workpiece Material Speed (Vc) Feed (fn) Depth (Ap)
Gray Cast Iron (FC250) 250 - 550 m/min 0.10 - 0.35 mm/r 0.50 - 3.50 mm
Ductile Iron (FCD450) 180 - 350 m/min 0.10 - 0.30 mm/r 0.50 - 2.50 mm

Pro-Tip: MC5015 vs. MC5005

MC5015 (The Versatile Choice): Excellent for high-speed Gray iron and stable Ductile iron machining. It offers the best balance of wear resistance and toughness.

MC5005 (The High-Velocity Specialist): Switch to MC5005 for absolute maximum surface speeds in Gray iron where cutting conditions are extremely stable and continuous.

Technical FAQ & Buying Guide

How do I choose the correct specification?

When choosing CNC cutting tools, check the full model code, dimensions, grade and selected variant before ordering. Do not rely on the product image alone.

How can I check compatibility with my existing setup?

For carbide inserts, tool holders, drills and end mills, compare the mounting dimensions, connection type and manufacturer's specifications with your holder or machine. If you are unsure, share your existing part number and machining application with us before ordering.

What quantity and price unit am I ordering?

Check the product listing for the selling unit, pack quantity and included components. If it is unclear whether the price is per piece or per pack, or whether a tool body and inserts are sold separately, contact us before purchasing.

How should I choose cutting parameters?

Select cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut using the relevant manufacturer's recommendations for your tool model, workpiece material, machine conditions and coolant method. The same settings are not suitable for every product or application.

Are bulk discounts available?

Our automatic quantity discount is 6% off for 2–9 items and 12% off for 10 or more items, based on the total product quantity in the cart. Other offers may not combine with this discount; check the applicable offer conditions.

When will my order ship and arrive?

According to our shipping policy, orders are typically processed and shipped within 1–3 business days after confirmation. Delivery generally takes 5–20 business days, depending on your destination and shipping method. Customs clearance or unforeseen delays may affect delivery times. A tracking number is sent by email after shipment.
