UC5115 Grade (CVD Wear-Resistance): The UC5115 is Mitsubishi's premium grade for turning gray and ductile cast iron. It features a specialized thick Al2O3 (Alumina) coating that provides an incredible thermal barrier and high hardness. This allows the insert to withstand the abrasive nature of cast iron at high cutting speeds without losing its sharp edge.
DCMT Geometry (Positive Rake): The 55-degree diamond shape with a 7-degree relief angle is highly versatile. It reduces cutting forces, which is essential when machining cast iron to prevent "break-out" at the end of the cut and to maintain high surface integrity.
0.4mm Radius (Precision Finishing): The "04" radius is the standard for high-precision finishing. It minimizes radial pressure, ensuring stability in small boring bars and fine-profiling operations.

UC5115 (Cast Iron Grade): Do not use this grade for steel or stainless steel. The coating and substrate are specifically designed to resist the abrasive graphite in cast iron.
US735 / NX2525: If you are machining steel, switch to US735 (Stainless/Toughness) or NX2525 (Cermet/Finish). Using UC5115 on steel will lead to rapid crater wear.
