SCMT09T308 NX2525
Mitsubishi Materials | The Surface Finish Specialist (Cermet Grade)
The Mitsubishi SCMT09T308 NX2525 is a high-performance cermet turning insert engineered for precision finishing. Featuring a 0.8mm nose radius for increased edge strength, the NX2525 cermet grade provides exceptional chemical stability and resistance to built-up edge. This results in a mirror-like surface finish on steel workpieces. Designed with a standard 7° relief angle, it is the premier choice for CNC turning where dimensional accuracy and aesthetic quality are paramount.

NX2525 Cermet Grade
The NX2525 grade is a TiCN-based cermet that balances hardness with excellent resistance to thermal shock. For steel turning, cermet is superior to carbide for high-speed finishing because it does not react chemically with the workpiece, preventing the "cloudy" finish often seen with traditional tools. It effectively resists crater wear during high-speed continuous cutting.
Finishing Chipbreaker
This SCMT insert is typically paired with a finishing chipbreaker (e.g., FP or LP). The indexable turning geometry is optimized for light depths of cut. With the 0.8mm radius, this insert offers a better balance between edge strength and surface finish, allowing for slightly higher feed rates than the 0.4mm variant while maintaining precision machining standards.
Recommended Cutting Parameters
Optimized for Steel Finishing (P05 - P20)
| Workpiece Material | Cutting Speed ($v_c$) | Feed Rate ($f$) | Depth of Cut ($a_p$) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon Steel (S45C) | 150 - 350 m/min | 0.10 - 0.30 mm/rev | 0.3 - 2.0 mm |
| Alloy Steel (SCM440) | 120 - 280 m/min | 0.08 - 0.25 mm/rev | 0.3 - 1.5 mm |
BORING BAR & HOLDER COMPATIBILITY
The SCMT09T3 is widely used in Mitsubishi SSBCR/L or SSDCN turning holders and boring bars.

Technical FAQ & Buying Guide
When choosing CNC cutting tools, check the full model code, dimensions, grade and selected variant before ordering. Do not rely on the product image alone.
For carbide inserts, tool holders, drills and end mills, compare the mounting dimensions, connection type and manufacturer's specifications with your holder or machine. If you are unsure, share your existing part number and machining application with us before ordering.
Check the product listing for the selling unit, pack quantity and included components. If it is unclear whether the price is per piece or per pack, or whether a tool body and inserts are sold separately, contact us before purchasing.
Select cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut using the relevant manufacturer's recommendations for your tool model, workpiece material, machine conditions and coolant method. The same settings are not suitable for every product or application.
Our automatic quantity discount is 6% off for 2–9 items and 12% off for 10 or more items, based on the total product quantity in the cart. Other offers may not combine with this discount; check the applicable offer conditions.
According to our shipping policy, orders are typically processed and shipped within 1–3 business days after confirmation.
