SCMW09T308 UC5115
Mitsubishi Materials | The Cast Iron Powerhouse
The Mitsubishi SCMW09T308 UC5115 is a specialized indexable turning insert engineered for high-efficiency machining of cast iron. Utilizing the advanced UC5115 CVD coating, this insert excels in both continuous and interrupted cuts. Unlike standard inserts, the SCMW flat-top design (non-chipbreaker) provides maximum edge strength, making it the primary choice for cast iron turning where abrasive wear and edge chipping are common challenges.

UC5115 Grade Performance
The UC5115 grade is a dedicated cast iron specialist. It features a thick Alumina (Al2O3) CVD coating that acts as a thermal shield, allowing for extreme surface speeds. This coating protects the carbide from the high-abrasion caused by graphite flakes in gray cast iron and sand inclusions common in foundry castings, ensuring long tool life.
SCMW Flat-Top Design
The SCMW geometry is a flat-top (non-chipbreaker) design. Since cast iron produces short, segmented chips, a traditional chipbreaker is not required. By maintaining a solid cutting edge, the SCMW provides superior edge strength and vibration resistance, preventing the micro-chipping often seen with standard CNC lathe inserts.

Technical FAQ & Buying Guide
When choosing CNC cutting tools, check the full model code, dimensions, grade and selected variant before ordering. Do not rely on the product image alone.
For carbide inserts, tool holders, drills and end mills, compare the mounting dimensions, connection type and manufacturer's specifications with your holder or machine. If you are unsure, share your existing part number and machining application with us before ordering.
Check the product listing for the selling unit, pack quantity and included components. If it is unclear whether the price is per piece or per pack, or whether a tool body and inserts are sold separately, contact us before purchasing.
Select cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut using the relevant manufacturer's recommendations for your tool model, workpiece material, machine conditions and coolant method. The same settings are not suitable for every product or application.
Our automatic quantity discount is 6% off for 2–9 items and 12% off for 10 or more items, based on the total product quantity in the cart. Other offers may not combine with this discount; check the applicable offer conditions.
